Artist Statement
Anna Mulvihill majored in studio art that focuses on painting and drawing. Her art contains numerous styles and techniques. Her art focuses on the importance of being a woman and the important people around her. Her inspiration for art is her son Donovan, who motivated her to do a series on Motherhood, where she is still exploring the topic. She used the style and technique for the series combining three artists, Jenny Saville, Mary Cassatt, and Christina Troufa. Her motivation to do portraits came from family because she believes that her family will love her no matter what and she tries to capture that in the portraits of the people she loves. In general, Anna Mulvihill uses organic shapes, line, and forms in her works of art. She paints nature because she likes to explore natural beauty and tries to put it on canvas. Her work is dedicated to nature and its existence created by God.
